China has maintained its position as ASEAN’s largest trading partner since 2009. On 7 February of this year, the first round of consultations on the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area Version 3.0 was launched to further promote trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation on the basis of the existing RCEP, while actively expanding into new areas such as the digital economy, green economy and supply chain.
As an important international cooperation city in the west of China, Chengdu is seizing RCEP’s huge development opportunity in terms of industrial chain and supply chain cooperation, the economic and trade exchanges with ASEAN countries are rapidly heating up, and the promotion of regional economic integration cooperation with RCEP member countries is accelerated.
In order to promote the new development of economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, ASEAN ACCESS partners in China, the EU Project Innovation Center, and ASEAN member states are organising an online panel session: “China-ASEAN Industrial Cooperation: Exploring RCEP”.
The theme of the event is to “share new opportunities of RCEP* and jointly build a new pattern of regional linkage development”.
Representatives are invited to discuss the situation, challenges, opportunities and potential cooperation on modern agriculture, clean technology, digital information technology, cross-border e-commerce and other advantageous industries, and how, under the RCEP framework, favourable policies such as trade and customs facilitation, tariff concessions, cross-border logistics, strengthen cooperation and exchanges between China and ASEAN countries and can support achieve complementary advantages and mutual benefit.
