Established in 2014, the ACIOA is dedicated to fostering collaboration and sharing best practices in ICT among CIOs, industry leaders, and public sector representatives. The flagship forum serves as a premier platform for CXOs to discuss advancement in technology, innovation, human capital development, and leadership. The theme for this year’s forum is “Empowering C-Suites: Pioneering ASEAN’s Sustainable Digital Future With AI, Cybersecurity, and Green Innovation.”
The Philippines hosted the 8th ASEAN CIO Forum was Co-organized by Women’s Business Council Philippines (WomenbizPH) and supported by Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) , Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), and the Department of Foreign Affairs, Office of the Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Affairs (OUCSCA) and other private organizations held September 18-19,2024 at Dusit Thani Manila.
The 8th ACIOA Forum featured keynotes and panel discussions around topics such as sustainable initiatives for a greener digital tomorrow, strategies for strengthening cybersecurity resilience, and emerging challenges and opportunities in AI and blockchain within ASEAN. Keynote speaker, Philippines Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Atty. Ivan John Uy and Cambodia Ministry of Post and Telecommunications Secretary Peter SOK Puthyvuth.
WomenbizPH Chairperson Rosemarie Rafael and President Rhoda Caliwara signed the Memorandum of Agreement with ASEAN CIO during the event. ASEAN CIO selected delegates also visited WomenbizPH office and presentation of DTI ASEC Kristian Ablan on Digital Pilipinas Framework.
WomenbizPH Secretary Mylene Abiva was the panelist for The future of work: The role of AI and robotics in shaping ASEAN’s workforce and discussed the challenges, opportunities, and potential pitfalls of rapidly advancing AI and robotics in businesses and industries across the region. As organisations gear up to adopt advanced and emerging technologies, maintaining a competitive and resilient workforce will entail thorough, organisation-wide consideration of pressing topics around job displacement, upskilling needs, and new employment opportunities.
The integration of these technologies efficiently, cost-effectively, and more importantly, inclusively, with a well-trained and ready workforce will empower a stronger ASEAN economy that keeps apace with global digitalisation.
