Women entrepreneurs encouraged to take advantage of smart technologies to help their businesses become more competitive.
APEC Women’s Business and Smart Technology Seminar
The Republic of Korea’s Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center (APWINC) in cooperation with Global Women’s ICT Network (GWIN) and the Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry, and supported by RoK’s Ministry of Gender Equality & Family (MOGEF), recently hosted the APEC Women’s Business and Smart Technology Seminar entitled “Leveraging Smart Technologies & Global Best Practices for APEC Women Entrepreneurs”.
The seminar presented current technology trends, best practices and business models that could help women-owned businesses expand and be more competitive. Moving forward, it also aspires to create an APEC “in-house online accelerator support system for start-ups” by partnering with regional entities, which can then be leveraged by women entrepreneurs when launching their start-ups. The system will include contacts and process recommendations for activities as sourcing, production and manufacturing where start-ups can leverage these discounted services to successfully launch their ventures in an efficient and cost effective manner.
One of the key outcomes of the seminar is to be able to formulate policies and develop strategies for leveraging smart technology which will then be presented to the Policy Partnership on Women and the Economy (PPWE) and to other related fora such as the Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI).
The APEC Women’s Business and Smart Technology Seminar is one of the side events of the APEC Women and the Economy 2015 Fora happening from September 15-18, 2015 at the Philippine International Convention Center.
